My Skincare Favorites

If you know me in real-life, then you know I am obsessed with skincare. Really, I always have been.

My skincare journey started out kinda bumpy, pun intended, which was the initial reason for my endless search of serums and so forth. Little did I know, at the time, how important the things are that go into your body as what goes out the outside.

I love getting pampered and treating myself to facials when I can, but on a typical day, these are the following products I use.

Starter Kit

This is literally in my bathroom cabinet. I’d heard a lot of really great things about this line from friends and since I’d researched the brand extensively, it started showing up regularly in my News Feed. When I bought my first starter kit, 3 months ago, it was supposed to be for a trial. At that time, I was debating another brand I purchased for my sister as a Christmas gift and I ended up really liking Urban Skin Rx.

AM Routine

Honestly, I don’t use the cleanser in the morning. Typically, I’ll just wash my face with a warm cloth and follow up with moisturizer. I purchased the moisturizer separately because the kit only comes with the cleansing bar, dark spot treatment, and the super glow serum. For the most part, I liked the moisturizer because it was really lightweight and came with SPF 30. I don’t remember it being greasy, but I feel like it left a thin, white residue on my face. In any case, I used the whole bottle but I didn’t reorder. Instead, I went back to my Ole Henriksen Vitamin C brightening gel creme. Previously, I’ve used the Collagen Truth Serum when I using the Vitamin C regimen and my aesthetician complimented me one day before I even had my facial and asked me what I’d done differently. If I’m honest, I kinda liked the results from Ole Henriksen line better than Urban Skin Rx because it was a bit milder and I actually felt like my skin glowed.

PM Routine

Start by wetting the sponge bar (included) then rub it into the cleansing bar in circular motions until absorbed. Add water until it lathers enough for you then massage into your skin. The box says you can leave it on as a mask for 2-3 minutes. I tried it once but it didn’t feel the same as a traditional mask. Rinse with warm water and pat dry. Next, after use Glycolic Acid pads, which are also sold separately. After a few minutes, once your face has fully absorbed the product, follow up with a serum, two are included in the starter kit. I rotate between super glow serum and the dark spot corrector depending on what my skin needs. For example, I’ve been using the glow serum more as of late and only spot treating with the dark spot corrector because my hyperpigmentation has balanced out. Finally, I slather my face with a moisturizing night cream. Even though my skin is oily, I recently read that when your skin is producing more oil, it’s overcompensating for a lack of moisture.
