❤️ The Day I Remembered What Love Could Feel Like

And Why a Stranger on the Side of the Road Helped Me Clarify the Kind of Man I Want

There are days that feel ordinary—
and then there are days that crack your heart open in ways you didn’t see coming.

This weekend, something small but powerful happened.
Something unexpected.
Something that reminded me that love—real, safe, grown-woman love—isn’t just possible…
it’s already finding its way to me.

And it all started with a car that wouldn’t start, a little annoyance, and two men I’ll probably never see again.

🚗 A Sunday I Didn’t Want to Spend Saving the Day

I’ll admit I was less than thrilled when my mom texted me this Sunday afternoon as I was enjoying my alone time after a long week of ripping and running.
So yes—my attitude was leaning “slightly annoyed.” But I went anyway.

When I pulled up, I surprised to see two men had stopped to help her.
No uniforms.
No tools. Just kindness.
And they appeared to be nice young men, with an emphasis on the young.

I’d come to discover that they weren’t even from here & they were only in town for a contract job, working at the arsenal nearby.
I only came to know this after they emphatically refused the $20 tip I tried to offered as a gesture for them even stopping to assist with my mom & niece stuck on the side of the road.
They spent almost an hour helping her.
And eventually, they hooked a rope to her truck and literally pulled it all the way to her house—just so she wouldn’t have to pay for a tow.

In a world full of “every man for himself,”
these two were just… good, decent, men.

Solid.
Present.
Helpful without expecting anything.

🌬️ The Energy Shift That Changed Everything

Even before I arrived, my energy was off.
You know that feeling where everything irritates you for no real reason?
That was me.

And because I’m in this season of self-awareness, my inner voice told me:

“Shift your energy before you get there.”

I realized that because being in the situation was already stressful enough, I didn’t want to add to my mom’s stress by making her feel like coming to get her was an inconvenience.

So I put on a gospel song that always brings me back to gratitude. (Set the Atmosphere by Kurt Carr, in case you’re wondering).
And little by little, I softened.

That softness made space for what happened next.

Because while they were helping my mom, one of the men—let’s call him Shawn—did something I didn’t expect:

He made me feel safe.
Not in a romantic way at first…
but in a human way.
A “you don’t have to worry right now” way.

And that alone…
activated something in me.

The Moment I Saw a Life With Someone I’ll Probably Never See Again

Let me say this clearly:
I don’t know this man.
I don’t even know how he spells his name.
I do know he lives in Pennsylvania.
And I’m also aware that there’s a 99.9% chance we’ll never cross paths again.

But for a few seconds, I imagined myself falling for him.

Or someone like him.
His kindness.
His calmness.
His capacity.

As crazy as it sounds, I imagined what it would feel like to fall in love with him.

I imagined holidays with someone.
Cozy Sundays.
Late-night winter dinners at candlelit restaurants.
Laughing under Christmas lights downtown.
Feeling excited about love again.
Feeling chosen without performing.
Feeling safe without shrinking.

It wasn’t about the man.

It was about the feeling.

A feeling I haven’t let myself imagine in a long time.

🌹 What I Realized: I Want a Man Who Feels Like Safety

That moment didn’t show me my soulmate.
It showed me my standards.

Here’s what truly stirred me:

  • He was capable without being controlling
  • Helpful without expecting anything
  • Humble even though he “does very well” for himself
  • Emotionally grounded
  • Calm under pressure
  • Protective in a natural, masculine way
  • Kind to my mom (huge green flag)
  • Respectful and trustworthy within minutes of meeting
  • Relatable — when he said “I know how this shit is,” I felt humanity, not pity
  • Someone whose presence lets me relax, not overfunction

Those qualities?
Those matter.
Those are what I want in a partner.
And for a brief moment on a random Sunday…
I got a glimpse of what a safe love could feel like.

💞 This Experience Wasn’t Fate. It Was a Preview.

I didn’t meet “the one.”
I met a reflection of the kind of love I’m ready for.

A love that’s safe.
A love that’s steady.
A love that lets me stay soft.
A love that doesn’t require me to carry everything.
A love that allows me to rest in my femininity and trust the masculine to show up intentionally.

Something in me awakened:
This is what I want.
This is what I’m calling in.
This is what I deserve.

And now…
I’m manifesting it intentionally.

Visualization Prompts

Close your eyes and picture:

  • A man who naturally takes charge when things get chaotic
  • A partner who makes you feel emotionally safe
  • Someone who shows up without being asked
  • A relationship where gratitude, ease, and joy are daily
  • Love that feels like Sunday mornings, not emotional roller coasters

Let your body remember the feeling from that day—
the warmth, the gratitude, the relief—
and imagine sharing that with someone God designed just for you.

🌙 Nighttime Love Prayer

Whisper this before bed:

“Thank you in advance for the man who will love me gently, fully, and consistently.”

Your heart will respond before your eyes see him.

  • What qualities made me feel safe that day?
  • How do I want to feel in my next relationship?
  • Where can I soften and make space for love to enter?
  • What am I ready to release to receive the love I desire?

🌟 Final Thought: I’m Not Looking for Him. I’m Looking for the Feeling.

This wasn’t a love story.
This was a reminder.

A gentle nudge from God, the universe, my future self—
that love isn’t just possible…
it’s probable.

And the next time a man comes into my life with that kind of energy?

I’ll recognize him.
Because my soul has already felt what he’s supposed to feel like.
