As reported earlier today by Edward Snowden and several other news outlets including Down Detector, social media giants Facebook and Instagram are temporarily out of order & it may have something to do with a whistleblower situation that broke in the news in a 60 Minutes interview that claimed unethical practices by the social pair.

I came to the conclusion that it was not only me when my mother texted me at work asking me if I was having trouble with Facebook. A quick Google search of “Facebook down” yielded several responses and chuckles from my Twitter feed.

In the downtime of my involuntary social media detox, I couldn’t help but wonder, what would happen if Facebook & Instagram were to go away? Where would all the entrepreneurs and aspiring creators flock to? Luckily, I’ve not neglected the trusted home that is my website, which links to my social media accounts but also houses some of my most precious content. If you haven’t figured it out yet, we are in a creator’s market now and it’s more important than ever to not only keep up with what’s trending but also to have a contingency plan. I used to be annoyed AF when my 11 year-old niece tried engaging me in TikTok early on. Now, there’s not a single DAY that I’m not on the app & not only can I say I love it but I actually see my audience beginning to grow.
Facebook has issued a statement although they are not saying what has caused the outage. In the meantime, I’ll be over in Tiktok so feel free to join me there. Otherwise, enjoy the refreshing of the page until further notice.
