Dedicated to True Love.

To my future husband,
I’m not sure if I told you this but you’re literally my list guy. I make lists for everything: grocery list, to-do list, bucket list…so it was no stretch of the mind for me to create a list of everything I wanted in a husband. And so I did. Originally, it had, maybe 17 items on it. Some years later, after tough discovery, I updated it, much like the apps on your phone when their outdated. In any case, I realized that some things weren’t really relevant and also that I’d neglected to mention some other attributes that are absolute requirements for me. Now before some of you go on a tirade of judgment……..well, actually… #CarryOn. #DearFutureHusband
It honestly doesn’t make that much of a difference to me. All I’m saying is that my method works for me (I am a writer, after all. Words are my thing). The point is, in creating a list, the purpose was not to check off each item as its added to my cart, unlike the goal of my grocery list; no, but rather, it was a physical reminder to me of the qualities that are important in a potential spouse (kinda like my vision board). By no means was it an all-inclusive standard by which I was scoring my potential mates. It just so happened that I was blessed with a man who happened to exemplify 98% of the characteristics that I wanted. #DesiresOfMyHeart #Psalms37:4
I probably don’t tell you enough how much I truly appreciate you, for the little things you do, like listening to me. Even when I’m talking about absolutely nothing of interest to you. Or staying on the phone with me for half an hour, coaching me on how to get a splinter out of my hand. For not only supporting me, but encouraging me every day to chase my dreams, while offering advice along the way. Thank you for just getting me, or at least making the effort to. #DearFutureHusband
I didn’t truly know love until I met you. I didn’t truly appreciate love until I lost you. And it breaks my heart knowing how much I broke yours. And I love you so much more than you know. You are more than a friend to me- you are an extension of me; the calm to my storm and the peace within my own wrath. You are the weight that balances me on life’s scale, and let’s face it, sometimes I fall off balance. At this exact moment in time, you are my past and my future.
The reason I love you is simple. You give me what every woman wants. Security. In every sense of the word. And ironically, the #1 item on my list. You make me feel beautiful, not to be misconstrued with pretty or sexy. There is a certain level of confidence that comes when a man makes a woman feel beautiful. Not to be cliché (as if writing a love letter on Valentine’s Day isn’t cliché enough, lol), but you made me realize that the love that I hoped & prayed for was possible. And I believe in that love. Our love. #DearFutureHusband
