Even pretty women have insecurities. Just look at the woman in the picture…It’s fucked up how sometimes a lover, an ex, social media or society’s standards can dictate our own ideas of beauty. We go injecting foreign chemicals/potions/poisions into our faces & bodies trying to enhance what God has already perfected…It’s sad but true. And I can say this from personal experience. I’ve looked in the mirror plenty of days & didn’t like what I saw. I thought, “if I only looked like…then maybe…” Then it hit me. Even Beyonce‘s looks didn’t save her from infidelity. Porsha Williams’ banging body didn’t stop her dude from cheating while she was pregnant. And altering yourself won’t exempt you from the challenges that life & love are going to throw…It’s not only important for me to love & accept myself on the outside but more important, I’m learning to value the core of who I am as an imperfect person. I’m working to embrace the areas that I recognize I want to improve that have nothing to do with physical beauty. If you ask me, that is beauty, in itself. Even pretty women have insecurities. Just look at the woman in the mirror.

Lil Kim elaborated on her insecurities back in 2000 during a Newsweek interview saying, “I have low self-esteem and I always have. Guys always cheated on me with women who were European-looking. You know, the long-hair type. Really beautiful women that left me thinking, ‘How I can I compete with that?’ Being a regular black girl wasn’t good enough.”

Her sentiments are what some may call a body dysmorphia, which is typically cited in those with eating disorders. The rapper continued, “”All my life men have told me I wasn’t pretty enough — even the men I was dating. And I’d be like, ‘Well, why are you with me, then?’ It’s always been men putting me down just like my dad. To this day when someone says I’m cute, I can’t see it. I don’t see it no matter what anybody says.”
